Clarion West Write-A-Thon 2019: Week One

It’s the summer which means it’s time for lots of Clarion West Write-a-Thon update posts. I’ll spend the next few weeks tracking my progress and updating here on my blog and twitter.

If you’d like to sponsor me, you can do so here.

I have incentivised rewards but you can just sponsor me for the heck of it if you don’t need an update email. There are also over a hundred and fifty other writers (and counting!) if you’d like to check out other goals and rewards

I’m actually working on two projects at the moment. The space opera that I’m collaborating with Luke Tolvaj to create that I talked about during last years Write-a-Thon, and a new cli fi spy novel. (I like saying cli fi spy. I’m not sure how much actually spying there is in it yet, but it sounds fun).

The space opera is a planned trilogy that covers aliens and terraforming and pandemics and politics. Lots of good, fun, apocalyptic stuff. As it’s a collaboration we started from a little something I’d written* and span a story out from that. We had loads of great ideas and plotted out a three book story.

*it’s essentially the same prison breakout I wrote but all the details why etc have changed.

From that plan we’ve done a couple of back and forth drafts and I’m taking another crack as it while Luke is busy on his novel writing workshop.

I’m also researching and putting new words to paper for my cli fi WIP, codenamed Winter Palace. It’s still a little early to talk about in detail, but I’m really happy with how it’s shaping up. It’s still very much planning stages, but there’s evidence of a novel hiding in the notes.

Thank you if you sponsor me, thank you for reading if you don’t. Clarion West is an incredible opportunity for those that can attend and I’ll always try to support them.
